Update!

November 22nd, 2009

Ahhhh! Finally! After many months, there is finally an update on here! Well, chimaera the administrator is very busy with life and such, and this site has been relatively ignored. That’s when I came along and asked if I could start updating this site to keep those who love Tame Impala as much as I do up to date on the happenings of the band! Well, since it’s been a while, there’s actually a fairly good amount to cover…

First of all, I have to mention the release of their vinyl.

In July of 2009, Tame Impala released a 7 inch vinyl of their newest recorded song, Sundown Syndrome, with a cover of Blue Boy’s Remember Me as the B-Side. You can purchase that here.

Second, the boys have just about finished recording their debut album! They recorded it in a home studio about 3 hours outside of Perth on the Margaret River at a place called Indjidup. But, more importantly, during the two months that they spent recording, Kevin didn’t shave his beard!

Sadly, he shaved it after they finished recording and continues to play shows smooth-shaven…

There is no set release date, but according to Tame Impala, it sounds wonderful.

“Fueled by several cases of beer and with a ticket to ride down the highway of their own imaginations, Tame Impala set about making what is set to be one hell of a mindboggling trip of a record. The results of their geographical, mental and emotional trip down to Injidup will emerge soon, and for now you’re invited to take a personal trip into the process behind the record with some images and stories behind them with the band….” -tameimpala.com

And finally, I must share that there are lots of Tame Impala shows going on in Australia, and they’ve been playing like mad around the country. Most notably, they will be playing the Big Day Out festival this year. You can see a full list of shows here.

Well, that’s the best I think I can summarize almost a year of band activity into one post… but keep coming back, because it will stay more frequently updated in the days to come!

Welcome and tour news!

January 24th, 2009

Welcome to tameimpala.net, the first (and currently only!) fan site for Tame Impala.  I have a fair bit of work to do on this site so bear with me while it gets up and running.  Any ideas for the site, let me know below!

I also wanted to highlight the fact that the band recently announced their first solo tour across Australia – check out the Tame Impala Tour Dates page for details.

That’s it for now, check back for more band news soon (and a sexier looking website, hopefully).
